The collective experience of the employees working in the Parts Department at Fisker Skanderborg A/S is very impressive. Every day, customers benefit from their expertise and a well-stocked warehouse.
Flemming Holm is in charge of the warehouse at Fisker Skanderborg A/S and decides on the parts carried in stock. Flemming has a technical background and has been with Fisker for about six years. He has come to know a great deal about what customers typically require and therefore which items the company needs to stock.
Stock range based on experience
“We have currently several thousand different items in stock,” says Flemming. “For me, it is a priority to have as wide a product range as possible, so we are able to provide a fast service to both our customers and our colleagues in the Service Department. My rule of thumb is that if I supply the same part 3–4 times during the course of a year, I will start stocking it. In addition, we carry stock of many of the wearing parts for the solutions that we have sold. Collaborating closely with the Service Department, I also get a good idea of the level of demand for specific parts.
If we do not have an item in stock, we can generally get it quite quickly from our supplier and courier it directly to the customer.”
Expert advice — also in Swedish
Many customers also benefit from getting expert advice before they order anything from Fisker. Flemming and his colleagues have direct access to the construction drawings etc. that were produced for the solutions supplied by Fisker, and they are therefore able to assist customers finding exactly the parts that they require.
Moreover, many Swedish customers are very pleased that Flemming speaks fluent Swedish and is therefore able to provide his advice in their mother tongue.
Starter packs for new solutions
In addition, Fisker’s Parts Department offer starter packs with exactly the items (primarily wearing parts) that are typically required for new solutions in the early years.
“In our experience, customers with starter packs can usually avoid downtime on their machinery during the first few years, because they have the correct spare parts,” explains Flemming Holm.
“We always customise our starter packs, and occasionally we also make what we call an ‘extended starter pack’ if, for example, the customer is situated in Siberia and does not have access to a quick visit from a service engineer. One of our main objectives remain enabling our customers to avoid machinery downtime and thereby loss of production.”
