Our project department team thrives when there are many threads to pull together, the bigger picture needs to be maintained, and progress must be ensured throughout our customers’ projects.
“It requires us to understand the customer’s needs and align expectations thoroughly from the outset when a new packaging line is to make the journey safely from concept to operation,” says Mattia, Head of the Project Department at Fisker. Together with Project Manager Torsten, Project Technician Brian, Documentation Manager Inga and Documentation Assistant Rikke, he ensures that both projects and documentation are managed with a steady hand.
Valuable Internal Collaboration
A project begins before it reaches the Project Department, and the solution needs to continue performing for many years after completion. That is why the Project Department works closely with both Sales and Technical Service throughout the entire process.
The team knows many of the customers, but also maintains close dialogue with Sales, who have already built up valuable knowledge about the customer and the project. This ensures that important details are carried forward when the project changes hands. The collaboration also often includes input on the final quotation.
The Project Department draws on Technical Service’s experience from the operation and maintenance of previous solutions, as well as their input on the current project. This knowledge is used to design new solutions that are easy to service and capable of maintaining high uptime long after commissioning.
The aim is to stay one step ahead throughout the project and solve challenges thoughtfully rather than resorting to firefighting.
From Individual Machines to a Complete Solution
One of the Project Department’s particular strengths is its technical understanding of the packaging line as a whole – and, not least, of what happens between the individual machines. It is in the interaction between the machines that the team’s technical expertise truly comes into play.
The team also draws on more than 30 years of collaboration with several of Fisker’s suppliers and maintains a close dialogue with them on everything from the overall solution to the smallest technical details.
“We know our suppliers so well that, when it makes sense, we allow them to deliver directly to the customer. This requires us to know exactly what both we and they can stand behind, and to ensure that certification and documentation are always in place, regardless of who handles the delivery,” Mattia explains. “A successful project is not just about schedules and technology. It is about making sure the customer feels confident that we have the full overview and take responsibility for bringing the project to a successful conclusion. That is a responsibility we take on every day.”
