Stonewalk manufactures flooring made from stone, where the customer acquires a unique solution by choosing their own desired mix of stone. This places special requirements on the pre-mix dosing system , weighing system and the packing of bags containing the stone mix. In collaboration with Stonewalk, Fisker has developed a system that meets all of these requirements.
Stonewalk is a proven Danish product made from stone with warm colours, which provides attractive options for jointless outdoor flooring, epoxy floors, walls, decorations and much more. Stonewalk is produced in Ormslev, near Aarhus. Stonewalk A/S is the sister company of Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S, a well-established family-owned company that was established in 1953.
Requirements for uniform stone mix and density
With Stonewalk’s stone mixer system, the customer can create a unique stone mix. Stonewalk provides a comprehensive range of coloured quartz sand, which can be added to natural stone like marble and granite. All of the stone quartz is coloured at Stonewalk and the company can handle 25 tonnes a day.
“When you mix the elements with different densities, it places special requirements on the mix amounts and on the packing in bags,” explained Stonewalk CEO, Claus Hove. “Our customers must be 100% sure that they have a uniform mix and density in all of the bags that they have ordered, for example, for a floor covering. I discussed this challenge with Karsten Fisker some years ago and based on Karsten’s proposal, we have today designed the perfect solution.”
Approval in Italy
Fisker has designed and supplied a pre-mix dosing system with six dosing units for creating the desired stone mix. Each dosing unit has its own weigh feeder to ensure the correct weight of the individual elements. The stone mix is then packed in bags, containers or in heavy duty bags, so each bag in a series has the same content and density. “After Fisker designed the system, I visited the supplier in Italy with Fisker’s sales manager Claus S. Rasmussen, to approve the system,” said Claus Hove. “This was very reassuring, as we now have a solution that is completely tailored for the customer and it’s unique.”
Satisfied Stonewalk
Stonewalk’s system was installed in August 2020 by Fisker’s technicians and has operated since then to the complete satisfaction of the customer. “We have acquired precisely the desired solution, which also makes it easier for our customers to use our product,” said Claus Hove. “Previously, the customer had to mix the contents from several bags when they wanted to use our stone mix. Today, it all comes from one bag, which means it is easier and there is greater certainty that the result will be good.”
