Vejle Kalk experienced an acute need for a new palletising solution, which Fisker Skanderborg supplied in just under six weeks. Vejle Kalk acquired a system with a built-in robot, increased speed and gentler handling of filled bags.
Since 1918, Vejle Kalk- og Mørtelværk A/S has produced mortar, plaster, chalk and sand, etc. for the Danish construction industry. The products are supplied in bulk, ordinary bags or so-called ‘big-bags’.
Excellent communication
In spring 2016, Vejle Kalk experienced an urgent need to replace one of its palletisers, which was around 25 years old, and the company contacted Fisker Skanderborg. “Our communication with Fisker was excellent from the very beginning, and we jointly identified the optimum solution. They were also able to meet our need for speedy delivery,” says Henry Bærentzen from Vejle Kalk. “We were also completely satisfied with the entire fitting and commissioning process. There were some minor programming problems, but Fisker solved them in no time.”
Gentle handling
The new system is based on a handling principle that is gentler than in the traditional solution. Fisker’s solution involves grabbing the bags from all sides rather than pushing them together and lifting them from one side.
“Gentle handling is the ideal solution for our bags and ensures that they maintain their original shape,” says Henry Bærentzen. “The bags look more presentable that way, and the content of sand and plaster does not become unnecessarily squashed.”
Speedy delivery
Fisker supplied the new palletiser to Vejle Kalk in less than six weeks from the day they first started communicating until the day the system had been commissioned at the customer’s premises. “That’s much faster than our normal delivery time, but we had an opportunity to speed up the process, and the customer’s need was urgent,” says Sales Director Peter M. Henningsen from Fisker.
A satisfied customer
Vejle Kalk is satisfied with both the speedy delivery and the new palletising solution. “Those of our employees who work with the palletiser on a daily basis also find that it works really well. They hadn’t previously worked with robots, but they quickly got used to it,” says Henry Bærentzen. “We are therefore very satisfied with both the new palletiser and our collaboration with Fisker.”
