A hydraulic press in conjunction with a horizontal bagging machine has provided the ideal solution for Irish Eclipse Feeds.
The solution packs high-quality haylage for horse feed, which is exported worldwide.
The harvested grass/hay is allowed to dry until it has a moisture content of approximately 30–40%. It is then pressed into large bales. The natural fermentation in the wrapped bales preserves the grass as haylage.
“The large bales of hay that have been lying in the field are, after some time, transported to the packaging line, where they are opened and the fermented hay is packed into smaller bales,” says Peter M. Henningsen. “The customer wanted the hay to be packed in two bags, one outside the other, so that the product could degas. We have honoured that wish with this solution.”
