Comet is the expression of the highest level of PFM technology and design applied to vertical wrappers. The machine has been designed for high speed wrapping and round-the-clock applications. It produces pillow pack bags from a reel of heat-sealable packing film.

The ZC1 integrated solution optimises the weigher-packaging machine combination by making the most of the Series C1 multihead weigher and the model Zenith vertical packaging machine, which produces pillow packs with three seals and square bases or Steelo Packs (4 side seals). The ZC1 offers high quality standards which translate into high weighing accuracy, aesthetically perfect packs with easy maintenance, programming and operating safety over time.

Structure: compact, designed to house the 10 and 14-head versions of the Series C1 multihead weigher. The particularly rigid structure is designed to eliminate vibration and thereby optimise operation of the multi-head weigher.

Hygiene: the ZC1 has been studied in every detail to facilitate cleaning and sanitisation operations.

Flexibility: the ZC1 enables quick and easy format changeovers. The weigher’s software features enable the machine to learn its own parameters thereby reducing intervention time by the operator who only needs to enter data relating to weight and speed. PFM Supernova is a vertical Form Fill Seal packaging machine that produces packs with three seals starting from a reel of heat-sealable film. Designed specifically for high speed packaging, the Supernova is an extremely compact, robust machine that uses highly developed electronics and simple, effective software.

Software

The software developed exclusively by PFM for the Supernova includes some outstanding features. At the same time, the extremely high transmission speed of the hardware data, which is also extended to the MBP weigher, allows for perfect synchronisation between the weigher/ VFFS and precise control of print registration on the film. Main features of the Supernova software:

• Sealing time can be regulated (within the permitted range) independently of the other parameters whatever the production speed or length of pack. A special regulation parameter linked with the recipe is featured on the touch screen. This function, combined with the exclusive long dwell sealing system, ensures an extra long, consistently optimal sealing time which guarantees the quality and resistance of the seals.
• Automatic control of synchronisation between the multihead weigher and packaging machine irrespective of packaging speed. Synchronisation between the product arriving and the movement of the crimpers is therefore always perfect.

The combination of these two features reduces machine downtime to almost zero thereby increasing guaranteed average production rates to maximum levels.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

• High productivity : the machines is driven by servo motors, controlled by PLC and interfaced by colour touch screen (servo version). Pneumatic version also available. The particular hardware configuration and the PFM software allow the machine to achieve up to 120 cycles/min.
• Easy cleaning : the “Hermetic Box” type frame allows a total isolation of the mechanical and electrical components from the external environment. This allows for easy cleaning operations.
• Quick and flexible format changeover . Only a few minutes for the reel change carried out by means of two self-centering and self-closing cones. With the self-centering system of the film reel there is no waste in time for the manual centering. The forming tube is equipped with the “quick and guided release system” for an extremely easy changeover. The Azimuth can be equipped with the special toolings to produce the STEELO-Pack with 4 sealed corners.
• Tele-service system the particular hardware configuration of the machines and the weighers allows to remotely control all parameters and the machine functions. In case of potential machine problems it is possible to give remote support to the maintenance team or make the system analysis and rapidly identify the malfunctions.
• PFM integrated wrapping systems use the best productive capacity of its multi-head weighers and the high flexibility of its vertical wrappers. The high level of integration ensures a common programming language for the various machines with an easy supervision of the entire line.

The PV 200 is a vertical packaging machine which produces packs sealed on three sides from a roll of polyethylene-type material.
